What you need to know to enter the contest...

Rule #1 - You must use the lyrics as they are written.

The reason being is we need everyone working with the same material so that we're all on a level playing field. Well, level except for talent. I can't help you with that. The idea of the contest is to have everyone working with the same lyrics, and see who comes up with the best song in the end. If you change the lyrics to suit your needs, then you're not working with the same material and the contest has changed.

That being said and in the spirit of "artistic expression" you can make some modifications in order to get the lyrics to work for your vision of the song. However, since all the contest entries need to be approved before they are posted, don't stray too much!

A bit vague and arbitrary yes, but it's that way on purpose. We will see how it works out for the first contest and modify the rules as necessary down the road for contest #2.

You can also feel free to email the maestro, and ask him/her if he/she thinks your modification is too extreme to be accepted.
